Our Greatest Achievement!
It has to be said that by far, our greatest achievement is surely the building of our exceptional showroom with fully operational Demo Suite. 5 years in the making with improvements made constantly it was one of the first operational link up systems in the country. Even though the showroom has gone it set the standard for others nationwide. Click on each image to see more.
The Finished ProjectAfter years of ongoing work the showroom is finally open for business. | 1st Fix CompletedOnce the new cabling infrastructure was installed the walls were re-plastered. | Alternative ViewLooking from the rear of the showroom front to the new glazed facade. The different lighting scheme cables that we have installed can be seen hanging down ready for 2nd fixing. |

Alternative ViewLooking from the front showroom through to what will be the demo suite in the back. | Plastering CompletedAll plastering now completed. The underfloor heating can soon be installed. | Alternative ViewThe stairs leading to the upstairs office can be seen. The iron column that supports the main beam holding the first floor up can be seen in the middle. See later images for how we disguised this. |
PaintingThe plaster once dry was given a first coat of paint. This was to be a base for the various green colours used throughout | Engineer AreaLooking from the demo suite in the rear through to the front. All engineers will have there own area for time sheets and paperwork | Engineer AreaAll units now fitted. The plan next is to install a wedi board top finished with natural stone tiles. |
Uponor MultifoilThe front of the showroom floor is to be under floor heated using the Uponor MLCP system. The first step was to lay the multi-foil. Essentially a high grade bubble wrap this will prevent unwanted heat loss into the cellar below | Under Floor HeatingThe multi-foil is continued all the way into the front of the showroom. The Wedi board panels leaning up the walls will be used to make the bespoke desks shown in later images. | Under Floor HeatingThe floor is thoroughly cleaned prior to the multi-foil being laid. This ensures a clean installation. |
Under Floor HeatingThe meeting room which will enable clients to come in and discuss their projects will be under floor heated also. | Insulation BlocksOnce the multi-foil was laid the floor was then fitted with the insulating blocks shown. These act like a large storage heater. The pipe work will run in the grooves and heat up the blocks. The blocks are similar in design to those found in electric storage heaters. | Underfloor HeatingWe started off fitting the full blocks that would not require cutting. As the room was very square this made life easy. |
Underfloor HeatingThe front right corner of the showroom. One of the bespoke hand made desks will be going here. We installed electrical floor boxes to keep untidy cabling at bay. | Under Floor HeatingThe blocks are lining up nicely. Note the very front is not fitted with any. This is due to there being a raised section at the front. This will be fitted with battens to bring the floor height level. | Under Floor HeatingAn alternative view of the blocks installed |
Under Floor HeatingLooking into the front left hand corner of the showroom. This will have a seating area for clients. | Under Floor HeatingThe second of the handmade desks will be sited here. A mirror image of the desk opposite. | Under Floor HeatingThe two floor boxes can be clearly seen here. These will contain the power points for the desks. |
Under Floor HeatingAll the full size pieces of the insulation blocks are now fitted. It is now that the gaps will be fitted with cut sections. | Under Floor HeatingThis section will be painted green and will be covered in smart glass. This was shown on Grand Designs and gave us the idea to utilise it in the showroom. The glass is opaque as standard but when an electrical current is passed through it, the glass goes clear. This can be seen in later images. | Under Floor HeatingAn alternative view of the smart glass area. |
PaintingThe first of the green paints are applied. We decided to go for a forest green along the length of the wall. All the under floor heating blocks have been fitted at this point. | Waterfall ConstructionRemember the steel column in the previous image? Well after some deliberating we decided to cloak the structure in the same Wedi-board that we are going to make the desks with. Wedi-board as a product is normally used to construct wet rooms. This will eventually be a waterfall so ideal for this application. | Under Floor HeatingThe last of the insulating blocks are being fitted around the electrical floor boxes. |
Under Floor HeatingThe new electrical automation system is started to be 2nd fixed. | PaintingDue to the various components being installed to the showroom we colour matched the new roller shutter that is going to be fitted to the showroom facade to the paint we required for the smart glass mentioned earlier. | Smart GlassThe painted section of insulation blocks is now finished. Right in the center of the showroom for clients to view the working under floor heating. |
Smart GlassThe smart glass area was given a 2nd coat of paint to ensure a vivid finsih. | PaintingThe forest green paint was given a second coat. | WaterfallThe construction of the water fall is coming along nicely. The top most section was tanked to act as a header for the water fall. Eventually the tank will act like a large rain shower head that will allow the water to cascade down. |
WaterfallAn alternative view of the waterfall. The second of the green colours can clearly be seen behind. We decided to go for a light apple green. | WaterfallThe first section of tiling has now been fitted. We decided to go with a purple mosaic with each being fitted individually. As this was a design and build piece of work the decisions were made after each step. See the catchment tank under construction at the bottom. | Under Floor HeatingThe under floor heating installed to the meeting room. Normally the insulation blocks would stop 150mm from the end to allow the pipework to return along the adjacent channel. Ever the perfectionists we meticulously chiseled the blocks for the bends to sit in. |
Under Floor Heating ManifoldWe decided to install the under floor heating manifold to the meeting room wall. All the under floor heating pipework bends were carefully laid into the insulation blocks and grooves channeled accordingly. | Smart GlassOnce all the pipework was laid, the floor was covered over to protect from damage whilst the bespoke desks were made. We had not made a decision on the floor covering at this stage and we did not want to damage the installed pipes or blocks. | Under Floor HeatingAn alternative view of the completed under floor heating pipe work. The hand made desks can now be made. Templates were cut from ply. The arc shapes on the floor will be the desks final positions. |
WaterfallThe tiling now completed on the waterfall. We decided to offset the beautiful purple tiles with blue ones fitted on the inside of the catchment tank. We have used this combination on swimming pools in the past. | Under Floor HeatingWe decided to mount the under floor heating manifold on chequer plate. As the manifolds are now chrome it made sense to follow the theme through to its mount. | WaterfallLooking up at the tanked header tank once the grouting was completed. See later images when we fit energy efficient RGB Led's on the underside. |
WaterfallAn alternative view of the waterfall. A truly beautiful example of craftsmanship. | WaterfallLooking into the catchment tank, the green tube shown will allow water to be pumped up to the header tank above. | WaterfallA stage image of the progress so far. |
TilingThe inside of the catchment tank. You will struggle to find better tiling elsewhere. | TilingThe top of the catchment tank was hand shaped to create the curve shown. | The Showroom FacadeFor nearly a year whilst the construction was under way the front of the building was screened via shuttering. As we tried to recreate the frontage from an old black and white image we found from when it was a Co-Op many years before. This was the first light the new front had seen and the first time the general public had seen the front. |
Facade TilingThe previous image shows the lower front section clad in Wedi-board. This has been used in many applications in this project. we decided on the green tiles shown. These were the nearest match to the black and white photograph of the Co-Op years before. | Facade TilingThe front section is now completed. Only the entrance to do now. | Roller ShutterThe custom electronic shutter was fitted. |
Facade TilingThe front green tiling now completed, the next step was the entrance into the showroom. | Facade TilingLooking into the showroom entrance the black and white image shows the traditional floor tiles seen in Victorian property hallways. | Victorian TilingWe decided to go for this pattern tiles. Once grouted it would be aged to look old rather than brand new. |
Victorian TilingThe tiling has nearly been completed. We came across all shapes and angles during this process. | Victorian TilingThe tiling now completed looks fabulous. A shining example of the high standard of work that we can carry out. | Victorian TilingWith the shutter down. It will not be opened again until the grand opening. |
Bespoke DesksThe desks made from Wedi-board. Our tiler made these from scratch using the template to create the curve shown. We used the Wedi system to demonstrate the work that we can produce. Imagine the panels used to create a sweeping walk in shower reducing the need for a shower screen. | Bespoke DesksThe second of the hand made desks. These are mirrored items facing each other. | Bespoke DesksLooking from the front of the showroom to the desks. |
Bespoke DesksAlternative view of the desks. | Engineered FlooringWe decided to install a nice engineered laminated flooring system onto the underfloor heating blocks. The first of the sections fitted. | Flooring FittedThe finished floor covering now fully fitted really sets of the showroom. The electrical floor boxes are tidy. Also the smart glass is installed. This will be fitted with a brass decorative trim plate. |
Finished Floor CoveringAn alternative view of the finished floor. The handmade desks were moved to allow the floor to be laid. | Smart GlassThe smart glass now fitted. In its opaque state people do not realise what is behind it. This glass is ideal as a shower screen alternative. | Stage PhotographA stage photograph showing the desks in their final postions. The showroom door is now painted and is fitted with the bespoke brass hand rail. Note the custom was cut out in the plaster to enable the door to be opened. The new lighting schemes are now 2nd fixed and working. |
Alternative ViewAn alternative view of the finished floor and desks. | Alternative ViewAs the lighting schemes are now operational from the custom wall plates we can demonstrate the various options available to clients. | Alternative ViewLooking to the showroom facade. The new seating should be arriving any day. |
Alternative View | Meeting RoomThe meeting room now can be fitted with the wall mounted monitor. This will have images scrolling across of our work. | Bespoke DesksThe desks are now tiled in brick effect mosaics. Again there are all put on singly to show the care in our work. The stone masons have been out and measured up for the granite desk tops. |
Alternative ViewLooking across the room to the first desk. The second monitor is now fitted to show waiting clients our portfolio of work. | Stage PhotographThe under floor heating primary pipework is now installed and operational. Heat is delivered on demand to the front showroom via a thermostat when required. The first of our many operational wood burning stoves is now fitted and working. Fitted on a glass hearth shows clients that they can keep there laminated floor and still have a wood burner installed. | Alternative ViewAn alternative view of the showroom at this stage. |
Alternative ViewLooking from the client seating our renewable company 'Greenheat Geothermal Ltd' motif can be seen painted on the glass above the door to upstairs. | Alternative ViewWhen clients are waiting to be seen, examples of our work are scrolled through on the monitor. | Smart GlassThe smart glass is now finished off with brass edging trim. The desks also now grouted waiting for the granite tops to be fitted. |
Green SofasThe green leather sofas have now arrived. | Fitted Granite WorktopsThe granite work tops now fitted to the desks. We found out from the stone masons that the two desk tops were 2mm out across their whole shape. Not bad considering that they were both handmade. | Fitted Granite WorkstopsThe second of the desks now fitted with the granite desk top. Note the electrical pod fitted to each piece. These extend up when a power point is required and retract when not needed. See a later image when we show what we used the spare piece of granite for from the large piece the desk tops were cut from. |
Ready For UseThe desks now kitted out with computers and seats. All we need now is the staff to man the showroom. | Alternative ViewClean & crisp finished showroom | Client Waiting AreaThe seating now uncovered ready for the big unveiling. |
